Today is Good Friday, the day that Jesus sacrificed himself for my sins.
Theo and I went to church for Good Friday service. Teddi went to nursery but they didn’t have a class for Stryder, so he sat with us.
We started off with worship, and Theo and my arms were lifted during the second song. I peaked over at Theo, who was holding Stryder, and there his little arm was also raised.

Now, I know Stryder probably had his arm raised because he saw others doing it. But I nudged my mom to show her, and my eyes started to well up with tears.
It hit me. While one of my sons is copying what he is seeing and doesn’t yet understand, I have a son who is in heaven worshiping the King and understands the gravity of his praise.
Easter hits hard every year. Archer died on Good Friday 4 years ago. Easter was the first holiday we never got to celebrate.
I remember Theo and I believing so hard that Archer would be healed, that we went out and bought him things for an Easter Basket. He would have gotten a snack, outfit, and a piano toy.
But that’s not the only reason I have such big feelings about this holiday.
Jesus died for me. Jesus died for Archer. Jesus died for you. If he chose any other path, would my son get to praise Jesus in heaven?! Probably not.
As a mom, I’m so grateful that Jesus not only died for me, but my kids. I have the peace of knowing that Archer gets to spend eternity in heaven because of what Jesus did.
Im beyond thankful Jesus sacrificed his life so my debt could be fully satisfied. Not only that, I’m thankful he didn’t stay in the grave.
