I love the support I feel and receive from all of you. I cannot express how much I love that we still have people keeping up with our story over a year after starting the blog. Not only that, but we have so many of you praying for us and our future family.
Life has felt a lot like a rollercoaster lately. I was doing pretty well after Archer’s birthday, and then my feelings took a ride. There are so many things I miss about Archer and things I am missing out on with Archer. These feelings all came pouring in after I wrote my last blog about being okay on July 14th.
Not only do I miss Archer, but there have been many IVF ‘things’ and struggles. I know most of you are probably curious about where we are at with IVF, and I wanted to give a very generic update:
We are in the waiting.
Every step with IVF requires waiting. Here are all the possible waiting points that Theo and I have to and will need to go through:
- Waiting for the doctors and embryologists to have openings in their calendars for someone going through the genetic testing.
- Waiting for my body’s cycle to do most things
- Waiting for all the medications to work
- Waiting for my ovaries to produce follicles
- Waiting for the follicles to be the “right” size
- Waiting for the doctors to tell us how many eggs fertilized
- Waiting for the doctors to tell us how many embryos made it to day three in their growth for grading
- Waiting for the doctors to tell us how many embryos made it to day five in their growth (or became a blastocyst)
- Waiting on genetic results of embryos
- Waiting for my body to look good enough for the transfer
- Waiting for transfer day
- Waiting for lab results
- Waiting for the ultrasound
- Waiting for the confirmed pregnancy
- Waiting to repeat most of these steps
We have yet to go through all these steps, and we started our IVF journey in May 2023. IVF is a longer journey than we would have ever expected. Thank you to those who are asking us where we are! We know we have people standing and believing that one day, we will no longer be waiting, but until then, please continue to pray for us while we are still waiting.
