I know it’s cheezy to say that one of the best days of my life was when Archer entered the world on June 26, 2021. As I reflect today, all 292 days with him were the best days of my life. I think I can speak for Theo and say he would agree with me.
Archer came into the world on his timing, and he came fast. We were in the hospital around 1 pm; he was born at 7:17 pm. I remember when I first laid my eyes on him, everything the doctor was doing (as I had a c-section), and all of the anxiety and fear vanished. Love rushed into my heart.
You were the most handsome little boy. Theo and I always told ourselves that we would be honest with ourselves and that we could accept if Archer wasn’t a cute baby. We wouldn’t be ‘those parents’ that thought our baby was cute when they weren’t. However, when we laid our eyes on you, we became ‘those parents.’ I don’t know if others thought you were cute, but you were the cutest to us! I mean, look at him:
Today, two years after you entered this world, we celebrate you. I continue to learn from presence and absence in this world. You have taught me the following:
- True Empathy
- Pure Joy
- Unconditional Love
- Cherish the Little Things
- Authenticity
- Crying in Public is Okay
- I Was a Good Mama
I say this for everyone else’s birthdays, but I hope you wear your party hat in celebration of your life today. Though short, I believe you had a beautiful life. I’m sure you’re having an even better time in eternity.
I thank God that you came into my life two years ago. While I miss you, I wouldn’t take any of it back, even if we knew the outcome.
