Dreams Don’t Always Come True

This weekend, Theo and I went to C2E2, or Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo.

Theo and I went together back in 2020 before the world shut down. We talked about how we couldn’t wait to have a family and bring our kids one day.

We always wanted to immerse them in what I’d call nerd culture, and I mean that in the best way possible. Theo and I are nerds, and we like that.

During the weekend, we saw many different artists, comic writers, attended a KPOP dance competition, attended a Cosplay competition, and walked the showroom booths. We got all you can drink old fashioned soda, and I think I’ll need about a month break from soda after that.

I didn’t fully remember the conversation that Theo and I had until we sat at a table playing trivia. This little boy, around the age, Archer would be now, came out of his stroller. His dad was holding this little chubby cheeked, dirty blonde boy.

He just reminded me of Archer…

This weekend, Theo and I still talked about one day bringing our kids here, but it still will never be the same. These things make me extra sad because we never got to do them with Archer, as we had dreamed about.

The fact of the matter is that dreams don’t always come true…
